Symposium for Global Cancer Research


NCI’s Center for Global Health is pleased to announce that registration is open for the 2014 Symposium on Global Cancer Research

The 2014 Symposium on Global Cancer Research, sponsored by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and Consortium of Universities for Global Health (CUGH), will be held the on May 9th (10am – 5pm), the day prior to the start of the 5th Annual CUGH Global Health Conference. The Symposium is intended to facilitate information exchange between global health and cancer research professionals about programs in global cancer research, identify potential geographic and scientific areas for collaboration, and develop strategic priorities related to cancer research focused on low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Highly interactive discussions will cover a range of topics, foster network building, and be geared toward developing action items for advancing global cancer research priorities.

Call for Abstracts

Presentation of cutting-edge research that addresses the global burden of Cancer is at the heart of the Symposium. NCI is currently accepting abstracts to join a poster session exhibiting outstanding work addressing this need.

Guidelines: Abstracts will be submitted online and are to contain no more than 2500 characters describing research objectives, materials and methods, results, and conclusions. The review process will be competitive, so successful applicants will be required to highlight the significance of their work in a clear and concise manner.

Travel Awards: NCI will sponsor up to three travel awards (covering airfare and hotel for two nights) to participants from low- and middle-income countries, as indicated by the World Bank. Travel award decisions will be primarily based on reviewer rankings of the abstracts.

Friday, February 7th 5pm EST – Online abstract submission deadline.
Friday, February 28th – Notification of acceptance/rejection and poster specifications sent to authors of accepted work.
Friday, March 7th – Notification of Travel Awards.
